Greetings Warren County High School Family,

I hope that everyone is enjoying the final weeks of summer break and that it was a safe and fun time for all.  I would like to take this time to welcome the students, parents, and staff members back to school starting August 5, 2011. The beginning of a new school year is a time of excitement and a time of challenge. We are extremely excited about the progress that was made during the previous year as WCHS improved student achievement in all subject areas and met the Annual Yearly Progression in English and Math.  This was a great accomplishment that should be shared by everyone.  We are also extremely excited about the challenge of improving on the past success while concentrating on improving the graduation rate at WCHS.  This is a challenge that all stakeholders should take a vested interest in.  It will take everyone to ensure that Warren County High School Always Values Education that produces well-rounded students by equipping them with the knowledge and skills that lead to post-secondary success.

The Warren County High School staff looks forward to the honor of working with the parents and community to provide another year of educational opportunities and a quality education for the youth of Warren County. The type of education that enables each student to have the courage and academic understanding to reach for any goal and overcome any challenge so that every child can truly realize they have the ability to become anything they dream of. I would like to challenge each student attending WCHS this school year to have the courage to reach for their dreams and the commitment to complete the hard work it takes to achieve the goals that often seem out of reach. Developing courage and backing it with hard work will help allow each student to have the confidence in their abilities so they can earn successes they can be proud of accomplishing. It takes a sincere belief in riding the W.A.V.E to be successful. The students returning to WCHS will remember what this means. The Class of 2015 will soon learn that W.A.V.E means; Warren - Always - Values - Education.

The teachers are excited about the new students they will have in their classes and wait with great anticipation for the opportunity to help develop the potential abilities in each child. Teaching the youth of our community is one of the greatest opportunities that could be given to a group of educators. Education takes everyone working together. Former President of the United States of America, John F. Kennedy, said "Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation." With a commitment to courage and hard work I am convinced every student can be successful. I would like to encourage each parent to make a commitment to working hand in hand with the school in order to give our students the best education available. When we provide a strong foundation for our youth we are not only helping them be successful; we are increasing the strength of our great nation.

Please join us on August 3, 2011 from 3:30 – 5:30 for Open House and Meet-Greet the New WCHS Principal.  During this time students and parents will have the opportunity to view their schedules and meet their teachers who will be sharing important information regarding the curriculum, their expectations, and special classroom events that will occur throughout the school year.

Please also keep in mind the following key points that are important to starting the year off smoothly.

· Make your child’s attendance to school a priority.

· Take a vested interest in your child’s education which is the key to their future well-being.

· Ensure that WCHS is a topic of positive discussion in your home each night.

· Return all requested forms and documents to school in a timely manner.

· Ensure that your student follows the dress code each and every day starting on the first day of school.

The normal school day will start at 7:50 a.m. and end at 2:55 p.m. Student's schedules will be available to view on August 3, 2011 during Open House.  Be sure to visit the WCHS Website by going to www.warren.k12.ga.us and then click on Warren County High School.
